10 Things I like About Star Wars The Force Awakens

1) Kylo Ren’s mask;

2) Kylo Ren using the force to stop the laser blaster beam during the skirmish on Jakku;

3) All the Jakku scenes are really strong actually;

4) Kylo Ren’s awesome crackling, ragged edge, red light sabre;

5) The amazing look of the First Order spaceships; love the black with red accents;

6) Rey’s and Finn’s chemistry, reminiscent of Han and Leia’s;

7) Han and Chewbacca entering the Millennium Falcon: “Chewie we’re home”;

8) BB 8: all right, I admit it; he/she/it is pretty darn adorable;

9) Luke’s robotic hand looks pretty cool…you can tell that I’m stretching here to find things I like!;

10) Waaaaaaaay better dialogue than predecessors (Episodes 1, 2, 3).

  1. You didn’t like the lightsaber fight between Rey and Kylo at the end? Or Han’s last stand? Or panning over to see the Falcon for the first time (my theater erupted like I’ve never seen a theater do). What about the end with Luke not he Mountain?

    I smell a debate looming…..

    1. The fight between Rey and Kylo was pretty good except that it wasn’t credible. How does Rey know to use a lightsaber as well as she does? Kylo is the leader of the Knights of Ren…presumably he would have mastery over a sword and could slay some novice, albeit a force sensitive novice. Even Luke required training! Seeing the Falcon was cool…but again, the fact that it was perceived as some rust bucket abandoned on Jakku does not make sense. The ship has a reputation after all…it made the Kessel run in 12 parsecs; everybody knows that! So am I to believe that it sat on Jakku for years and nobody gave it a second thought? I will concede that Luke on the mountain was pretty badass…but by the last scene, I was scratching my head, feeling somewhat cheated that The Force Awakens was a reboot rather than fresh material. The Star Wars universe is so rich with material from the books e.g. the story of Han and Leias twins, Jaina and Jacen Solo, why reboot? It does not make sense.
